DFG Priority Program 1527 Autonomous Learning

Autonomous Learning: decision and learning theory observed holistically

Researching autonomous learning is intended to make modern systems more capable of learning and more independent. This particularly means that systems independently make decisions that influence their capability to learn: actions to collect data, representations and learning parameters should be selected by the system in such a way that they enable efficient learning. The research field thus encompasses the basics in decision and learning theory as well as concrete challenges in robotics.

With the research priority program Autonomous Learning the DFG is funding basic research on autonomous learning between the years 2012 - 2018. This priority program is being coordinated at the University of Stuttgart by Prof. Dr. Marc Toussaint.
